Rat Tails

With no money, a toddler aboard and a second baby coming faster than the wind, a family sails their battered Ericson 38 from Ensenada to San Francisco. Something has moved onto Blue Goose first: black seeds on every counter, small feet in the headliner, jam licked clean from the traps. Traps give way to poison, and the count of the dead begins. In alternating chapters we hear from the other crew, lost, starving and grieving their own dead below deck. Rat Tails is a true story, unsettling and strangely tender, about two families sharing one boat and one long voyage.
