Descripción
The German battleship German battleship Bismarck was one of the most formidable warships ever built, launched in 1939 as a symbol of naval power. Designed with immense firepower and heavy armour, it carried eight 38 cm guns and could dominate much of the Atlantic if left unchecked. Its most famous moment came in May 1941 during Operation Rheinübung, when it sank the British battlecruiser HMS Hood, a shock that electrified the Royal Navy and triggered a massive pursuit.
Despite its strength, the Bismarck’s career was brief. After being damaged by aircraft from HMS Ark Royal, it was crippled and later engaged by British battleships and cruisers. On 27 May 1941, it was finally sunk in the North Atlantic after a relentless chase. The wreck was discovered in 1989 by Robert Ballard, resting deep on the seabed like a steel leviathan paused mid-roar, frozen in wartime history.
