"The water that once terrified us is the same water that carries us home."
The waves don't ask if we're ready. Loss comes. Fear comes. Shame comes. The past rises like a tide we thought had already gone out.
Waves & Wounds is a collection of poems written somewhere between the waves. Some came on still mornings when the water was calm. Others came in storms, when the only prayer left was a whisper: "Help me."
The book follows the tide through six chapters, from The Tide Rises and The Crash down into The Deep, then through The Turning and The Anchor to The Return, and it ends on The Shore at Last. Along the way you'll find:

    • Dawn prayers whispered before the phone lights up
    • A dashboard warning light that turns out to be anxiety, not the engine
    • Bruises that never bleed, and the scarred hands that heal them
    • An angry boy, quick to swing, who learns a stronger kind of strength
    • Grief for the old souls whose love was the secret ingredient in every meal
    • A double rainbow over the beach as the last song of the night fades out
    • Love poems to the wife who has been his shore through every storm

The poems are written in rhyme, rhythm, and Scripture. They're honest about counterfeit faith, the excuses we hide behind, and the hidden wounds we carry so long we forget they're there. And they keep pointing to the hand that reaches down into the deepest water.
This book won't teach you how to avoid the ocean. It will remind you that the waves meant to drown you can also wash you clean.
If you're somewhere between the waves right now, you're not alone.
