Why Write About Grief?
Why Write About Grief?
Because grief is one of the few experiences that can silence us while demanding to be heard.
We lose people. Relationships. Dreams. Homes. Versions of ourselves. Futures we thought were certain. And too often, we are expected to “move on” before we have even understood what changed inside us.
I wrote The Grieving Creative because grief does not always need an explanation. Sometimes it needs a canvas. A page. A melody. A photograph. A garden. A place where pain can become something we can finally hold.
Creativity does not erase grief.
It gives grief somewhere to go.
The Grieving Creative: Finding Your Way Through Loss, Art, and Becoming is for anyone learning how to live beside loss while slowly discovering who they are becoming.
You do not have to create something beautiful from grief.
You only have to begin.

To Self Or Not Publish
To Self Or Not Publish
Self-publishing is one of the most rewarding and frustrating things I have ever done.
The pros are powerful: complete creative control, ownership of your work, freedom to choose your pricing, cover, formatting, release schedule, and the ability to build a direct relationship with your readers. You are not waiting for someone else to decide whether your story deserves to exist.
The cons are just as real. You become the author, editor, designer, formatter, marketer, publisher, and sometimes your own technical support department. Every mistake belongs to you, every deadline is yours to manage, and visibility does not magically appear just because you hit “publish.”
But there is something deeply satisfying about taking an idea from a blank page and turning it into a finished book that someone else can actually hold, read, and connect with.
My experience with Written.app has been especially positive. It has given me another space to share my work, expand my publishing reach, and continue learning what independent authors can accomplish outside the traditional publishing model.
Self-publishing is not the easy road.
For me, it has been the road worth taking.
