Yesterday I had an author signing at Inklings Bookshop, and it reminded me why I’m building this press in the first place. There’s something different about talking directly with readers — hearing what landed for them, what surprised them, what stayed with them. Every conversation feels like proof that the work is moving in the right direction.
And today, I’m excited to announce my next signing:
Adventures Underground — October 17th, 2pm–4pm.
This one feels big. I’ll be bringing two new books that are in the final stretch toward their October 1st release, and both of them represent different lanes of what 5 Smokes Press is becoming.
Fireproof Seasons — the nonfiction continuation of Seasons of Smoke. It’s the deeper dive into pressure, clarity, and becoming. The book that shows what happens after smoke, when the fire finally forces you to see what you’ve been carrying.
Fog Lies — my first MG/YA dark fantasy chapter book. Built loosely around the 5 Kinds of Smoke, shaped for younger readers, and carrying the emotional truth of transition in a world that feels bigger than you. This book has been a long time coming, and it’s the start of a whole new lane for the press.
Both books are almost ready. Both books are coming fast.
Behind the scenes, I’m rebuilding the identity of 5 Smokes Press — tightening the message, sharpening the visuals, and making sure the press reflects the movement it’s becoming. There’s a lot happening at once: production, signings, platform updates, and the early foundation of something new I’m hinting at but not revealing yet.
This feed will be one of the places where I share the journey — the real-time updates, the behind-the-scenes work, the momentum, the setbacks, and the rise.
More updates coming soon as both books move through the last phase of production. The press is rising.
I’m also rebuilding fivekindsofsmoke.com from the ground up and tightening the identity, sharpening the message, and making sure the press reflects the movement it’s becoming.
And next week, I’m hinting at something new.
Something instinctive.
Something that turns the Smokes into action.
Three creatures.
Three instincts.
Three ways identity becomes motion.
I won’t reveal them yet. But if you’re here, you’ll see them first.
The fire is getting brighter. The movement is getting louder. And every signing, every reader, every new lane is shaping what 5 Kinds of Smoke Press is becoming.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for reading.
Thank you for being part of this rise.
More to come next week.
