my name is Megan Meikle, and I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I’ve always wanted to be a professional writer/author, but life had very different ideas for me.
I am 33 years old and live in rural Scotland. For the last 12 years I have been working quietly as a care worker/support worker for various companies and to say the least, I’ve often been told that I wouldn’t amount to much and that I “wasn’t very smart.”, It has battered my self-confidence almost completely therefore putting this together has been a very terrifying experience that I’ve often doubted and sought reassurance for.
In 2023 I took the plunge to go back to education, hoping that a change in career would help, but as of yet I am still waiting to be able to apply my new skills into a new position. But despite everything, I have continued to write. I have written every single day since I was six years old in some capacity or the other and this is what I would term as my Magnum Opus. I think everything that I have ever done, has led me to creating the Hollows.
I have always been drawn to the macabre and horror genre, an avid lover of all paranormal tv shows and documentaries, whilst using these as backdrops for exploring humanity and what it means to be human. I truly believe horror is a mirror that explores perhaps some of the darker parts of being human and what it means to be human. It’s endlessly fascinating and I think if people were more open, they’d see that the ghost, werewolf and vampire stories we tell ourselves actually mean something more.
