Corniche: An illustrated history of a British icon describes the history of the iconic Rolls-Royce Corniche motor car. This history includes how it was derived from the Mulliner Park Ward Coupe, a two-door derivative of the Silver Shadow saloon, through to the final Mark V version, when the Rolls-Royce brand was acquired by BMW. Reference is also made to the relationship with the Bentley Continental.
The Corniche is among the author’s all-time favourite cars, and the book celebrates this historic motor car by presenting its long history, accompanied by photographs.

Iconic Moments with Elvis: January 8, 1935, to August 16, 1977, describes a selection of iconic moments in the life of Elvis Presley.
For the first nineteen years of Elvis’ life, he was unknown. Then on July 5, 1954, that all began to change when he recorded an old blues song “That’s All Right” in a different style. The style fused white country music with the blues, creating what was originally called rockabilly. This then evolved into the rock ‘n’ roll style.
By 1956, Elvis had international stardom and was swamped by controversy and adoration in equal measure for the way he moved on stage. The USA was still a racially segregated nation then and the influence of black music on rock ‘n’ roll was seen by the white establishment as a dangerous threat. Elvis found himself at the forefront of all that.
In 1958, he went into the army serving in West Germany. His approach to army service silenced his critics and he won over even more Americans as a result. On his return rock ‘n’ roll had developed a softer sound for a period and, Elvis found himself starring in a succession of romantic, musical comedies for most of the sixties. This was much to his frustration. By the time he returned to live performance with a spectacular TV special in 1968 the world had changed. America had suffered several high-profile assassinations, civil unrest due to the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Music had changed too. British Groups such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones had become dominant, and folk singers such as Bob Dylan wrote songs with anti-war sentiment and messages of peace. Closing the TV special with “If I Can Dream”, a song of hope for the future, “where all my brothers can walk hand in hand”, put Elvis back where he belonged.
Las Vegas and endless tours followed producing many more iconic moments including the first live TV broadcast featuring a solo performer, “Aloha from Hawaii via satellite”. However, the price of immense fame proved to be very high for a man who despite his superhero public persona as “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, was privately insecure, shy, and never really understood the impact that he had on the world. Struggling with sleep and the effects of an unhealthy, southern fried food diet, Elvis fell into the trap of addiction to prescription medications. He had given his all for over twenty years when he died suddenly on August 16, 1977.
Today his legacy is loved and respected the world over. There was no one like him at the time, there has been no one like him since and there will never be anyone like him again. Elvis lived through a period where popular culture changed more dramatically than at any other point in history. Elvis triggered all that.

Chapter 1

Jacob inherited a substantial amount of money when his grandmother passed away because he was her favorite. He always listened, helped out, and even sat with her when she moved into the nursing home.

But you might ask how such a good grandson ends up involved in human trafficking, and it all began at a cafe in Belize. The underworld has a way of finding you, and as he sat there enjoying a coffee and a roll, a woman approached him.

It was a seduction. They spent night after night making love, and one day Helena said, "I know a way to make you very wealthy, but you have to trust me." He did because Jacob was already spending his inheritance on Helena. To keep her, he needed more money, which was part of the scheme.

Helena got on the phone and arranged a meeting, and by the end of the week, he was brought to the home of Wilma Sanderson, an American expat who had helped the Belizean underworld, known in international circles. She didn't meet him in person but communicated through a voice alteration device that made her sound like a man.

She already had a file on him because when a wealthy visitor stays past a few months, such measures are taken—especially if you're orchestrating schemes to drain someone dry in more ways than one. Helena was doing just that.

First, basic questions were asked to gain trust, but then Wilma revealed her plan for Helena and Jacob: move to the "ghetto" and find her African American children, which she believed would bring her more money than she could imagine.

But trust needed to be earned. Jacob said, "Oh, that's the easy part: give them access to something they don't have, and that's college."

"We will start a scholarship fund, and even better, we will move into their neighborhood."

And that was how it all started.

Jacob Lansbury was the only Caucasian who lived on Chicago's South Side, and although he was likely the wealthiest, he was also helpful, friendly, and always trying to mentor others.
Jacob even set up a scholarship fund to help residents who couldn't afford to send their children to university, but no one knew Jacob had a secret.
How he made his wealth was due to human trafficking, and no one was any the wiser until one day Lance McAllister went missing, and his parents knew that Jacob was behind it, but no one would listen to them- not the police, not the neighbors, not even the drug dealers; street hustlers would listen.
This is the Story of one, and although it may be fiction, this real-life subject matter touches communities, economics, and so forth.
