    Sometimes fear looks reasonable.

    Sometimes fear looks reasonable.

It can look like caution, planning, waiting, or needing one more answer before we move.
    Sometimes those things are wise.
    Sometimes we are just scared.
A question I have found useful:
What am I afraid will happen if I actually do this?
What does fear tend to look like in your life when it is not obvious?

What am I actually angry about?

What am I actually angry about?

Sometimes I know I am angry long before I understand what I am actually angry about.
I can replay what someone said, what they did, why I think they were wrong, and why I think I am justified.
But if I sit with it long enough, sometimes something else is underneath it.
    Fear.
    Embarrassment.
    Expectation.
    Ego.
Something I wanted that I did not get.
That is one of the things I have come to appreciate about the inventory work in Step 4. It slows me down enough to get past the argument in my head and look at what is actually happening in me.
I am curious about other people’s experience with this.
Have you ever started looking at a resentment and realized the thing underneath it was completely different from what you thought you were angry about?
I also recently made the Step 4 resentment worksheet available online for anyone who wants a structured place to work through one:
