Starlight in a Dark Sky
Starlight in a Dark Sky
Hi ya! Heidi, here!
So I'm thinking of publishing my dystopian series on here and I want to know what you think. On Royal Road so far, I have had over 4K reads and counting on book 1 of the series. But I have a new and much improved version that I want to make available to YOU, not published on RR.
Here's the blurb! Let me know what you think.
‘The City Survives, and the City Thrives’, as everyone knows. This may be true for those living ‘Over the Hill’, but for those ‘Under the Hill’, like Denzin and Chimma, that is nothing but a cruel joke.
One day, Chimma calls him out of the rain, only for Denzin to drag her into his own personal storm. Both of them are then plunged into a vortex neither can escape. But escape they must, if there remains any hope of rescuing those they love.
Meanwhile, in dark corners of the City, marauders roam the streets, along with whispers of a prophecy determined to hunt them down.
'Crossing the Boundary' is the first book in 'The Silver Chronicles', an 8-book series set 200+ years from now in the Midlands, UK. And yes, my home town looks--and feels--very different than today! It's a story full of impossible choices, insurmountable odds, and undefeatable hope, set in an immersive world with characters who are so alive in my head they keep me awake at night for all their chattering. (It is they who transformed this from a single book to a series, refusing to be represented as 2-dimensional, or to have their character arcs cut short!)
Tropes? I didn't write it with tropes in mind, but if you're determined to have a few to sit your reading specs on, then try these on for size:
climate, anti-hero, chosen one, found family, brain washing, genetic engineering, friends-to-lovers, quest, hero's journey and dysfunctional family.
Does this sound like something you'd want to read here on 'Written'? If so, let me know!
~H
p.s. any donations go towards one day 'The Silver Chronicles' becoming real live paperback novels, or even audio books. And, maybe, keeping this author's lights on and fridge filled meanwhile.
